Mary Alice Lane (nee Carr) went to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 24, 2024, at Carnegie Village Senior Care in Belton. She was 89 years old. She was the last of her generation of the Tuckwood Cousins of Stafford, Kan.
Mary was born Sept. 23, 1934, in Elkhart, Kan., to Elmer Claude and Mary Evaletha Tuckwood Carr. She graduated from high school in Dodge City, Kan. in 1952, then graduated from nursing school.
She started working at St Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City in 1964. She met George Alanson Lane, Jr., at St Luke’s Hospital and they married in 1971. They were married for 30 years when he died in 2010. They lived in Peculiar, for many years. She was a member of St Paul’s Methodist Church in Raymore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, Carol J (Wallace) Brown and brother and sister-in-law, Wayne (Marilyn) A Carr.
She leaves to love and remember her; stepson Mark A (Norma) Lane of California, Susan A Keefer and Karen L English, both of Kansas City; two step-grandchildren, John Keefer and Kristen English; nephews, Ralph E Brown (Juanita) of Hutchinson, Kan., Jeff L Carr (Linda) of Converse, Texas, Dara J Carr of San Antonio, Texas, and Eric A Carr and housemate Dana E Loewen of Boerne, Texas. Great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Services were Monday, with graveside service following in the Antioch Pioneer Cemetery in Merriam, Kan. Ina Gunther officiated committal at the cemetery.
