Margo Gayle (Tabor) Beal, 73, of Belton, died Saturday, Sept. 19.
She was born in Belton on May 10, 1947, to Herman and Mary Powell Tabor, who preceded her in death.
Margo graduated from Belton High School in 1965 and was married to Donald Beal on March 2, 1968. They had a daughter, Valerie, and a son, Christopher. Donald died in 1984.
She began working as a secretary at Veterans Hospital in Kansas City before serving as a photographer/reporter at the Belton Star Herald and the Olathe Daily News, and a human resources manager at Ozanam before retiring in 2013.
Margo co-owned Flamingo West and Buy the Book, and held part-time jobs for fun at Hallmark and Dryden Drugs.
She was a record-keeper and member of the Belton Cemetery Board and a member of the Belton Historical Society as well as PbAs2.
Margo was involved actively with foster parents’ organizations, she helped organize BHS class reunions and was a Boy Scout leader.
She is survived by her brother, Mark (Evelyn) Tabor; two sisters, Mickey and Mary Ann Tabor; her daughter Valerie (Mikeal) Sullivan and son Christopher (Crystal) Beal; and five grandchildren, Jake and Alex Sullivan and Kellie, Bayleigh and Charlie Beal.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at CrossRoads United Methodist Church in Belton, with a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. at Belton Cemetery. A virtual memorial page has been established at www.facebook.com/groups/827414941132518/?fref=mentions for those unable to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Belton Cemetery Board or the Belton Historical Society.
