Janet (Jan) Jones, 83, of Belton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 12th, surrounded by family.
Jan was joined in marriage to Jake Jones in 1974, when she made Belton her new hometown. Jan was a good stepmother to Jake’s two sons, David and Darin.
Jan was a mail carrier for the USPS for many years. She also drove a dump truck and a school bus. She was also a private pilot. She was an avid rock hunter, and loved traveling with Jake in their RV. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
Jan had resided at Carnegie Village in Belton for the past 12 years. The staff and other residents loved Jan, and she never met a stranger.
Jan was preceded in death by her son Tony Johnson. Jan is survived by her sisters, Riva Jacobs and Florence Middleton (Bob); sons David (Donna), and Darin (Rachael), seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces, Kelly, Carrie and Cris; and nephew John. Also a very special longtime caregiver, Michelle Angotti, who became part of the family.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held on a date to be determined in the Belton Cemetery.
