Doris B. Deschenes

Doris B. Deschenes, age 89, of Belton, Missouri, lost her courageous battle with cancer and passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, November 25, 2022.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 29, at St. Sabina Catholic Church, 700 Trevis Ave., Belton, Missouri 64012. Visitation began at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Doris was laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Raytown, Missouri.

Doris was born in Lewiston, Maine, on December 14, 1932, to Edmond Robert and Alma (Bedard) Robert. In the winter of 1952, Doris was joined in marriage with her husband Richard on December 27 in Lewiston, Maine. This union was blessed with six children. Doris was a woman of Catholic faith and most recently was a parishioner at St. Sabina Catholic Church in Belton, Missouri.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Edmond and Alma; two sisters, Germaine Robert and Lucille Champagne; and three brothers, Marcel Robert, Roland Robert and Roger Robert.


Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of seventy years, Richard Deschenes; six children, James Deschenes, Elaine Christopher, Janice McDougal (Wayne), Donna Johnston (Mark), Bonnie Kennedy (James), and Kristie Michiels (Michel); sister, Rolande St. Laurent; sister in law Connie Robert; twenty grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.


Doris touched the lives of all those who knew her with her positive attitude, beautiful smile, and caring heart. She was many things, but most of all a loving, generous, and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed. She will live on in our hearts forever.
