Mayor Jeff Davis announced Friday that the city has opened the Eagles’ Landing Golf Course of Belton, effective this Sunday.
Davis said he did so following Cass County Health Department guidelines. The course will be open seven days a week, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last tee time at 3 p.m.
“The city of Belton closed the golf course March 16 out of an abundance of caution and prior to clarification that has come since Cass County Health Department issued its Public Health Emergency Order March 23,” said Davis.
“The city of Belton as the operator, and anyone contemplating using the golf course, must be aware of and comply with Cass County’s detailed guidelines.”
CCHD’s guidance to the city and residents of Belton for the golf course includes: Strictly follow the current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for social distancing; minimal staffing; patrons check in without interacting with staff and have no access to the clubhouse facility except for restrooms; touch areas on the golf carts sanitized before and after use with bleach water in accordance with https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/cleaning-disinfection.html; golfers ride single in carts; tee times be set a minimum of 18 minutes apart;
Golfers pay by credit card online or by phone with no cash accepted; course set up eliminates the handling of the flagsticks; no tournaments, leagues, clinics or special events; range balls/bags/buckets washed and/or disinfected between players; no food or beverage cart service.; no water coolers; and routine cleaning of touch surfaces of restrooms.
CCHD’s March 23 Public Health Emergency Order included in its definitions “Essential Activities,” with outdoor activities as part of the section, “To engage in outdoor activity, provided the individuals comply with Social Distancing Requirements as defined in this Section, such as, by way of example and without limitation, biking, walking, hiking, or running.”
CDC guidelines require social distancing of at least 6 feet and frequent, thorough hand washing.
