The Belton Chamber of Commerce opened the new year on Tuesday, Jan. 14, with a report from Executive Director Diane Huckshorn (right) on 2019 during the organization's first luncheon meeting of the new year at Eagles' Landing Golf Club.
New President Karen Fletcher (center) and the membership heard the organization ended the year with 295 members, 45 of which were new; 5,000 social media followers; 54,000 website visits; 1,200 email contacts; and gave away $8,000 in scholarship and donation money. This year is the Chamber’s 75th anniversary year, Huckshorn said.
She announced that the organization would hold its annual golf tournament at the Country Club at Loch Lloyd on May 10. The 75th Anniversary Steak Fry will be held in August, at which a time capsule will be buried.
The Chamber Office will move into a larger space in the next few months as well, she said. The Chamber is taking over the space occupied by the closing Beacon Bible and Bookstore in the 500 block of Main Street, across from City Hall.
